Unity Candle Ceremony

The Unity Candle Ceremony is a beautiful visual illustration of the Biblical truth found in Genesis 2:24, "....a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh". 

The two individual taper candles represent the bride and groom.  These tapers are usually lit before the service by the mothers of the bride and groom (or family member) and burn during the processional through the exchanging of vows.  Once the vows are said the bride and groom take their individual taper candle and together light the Unity Candle.  Once the Unity Candle is lit the individual tapers are extinguished, representing that the two individual lives become a new united family unit. 

The Unity Candle is often displayed in the home as a reminder of their love, vows, and new family unit.  Burn the candle often to remind you of that special day and your commitment to each other.
